Tom Shamrakov
Tom Shamrakov, born in Jerusalem in 2002, 11th grade at Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance High School. This is his 9th year of violin studies at the conservatory “Hassadna” with Professor Michael Geisler, including individual lessons, chamber orchestra, string quartet, theory and history of music.
Tom has won full scholarships from the America Israel Cultural foundation in the years 2013 and 2017.
Between 2012-2016 Tom participated in the “Young Bow” program of the JMC. He participates in the “Israeli Young Philharmonic Orchestra” courses and the program of David Goldman for excellent young musicians since summer of 2017.
In 2014 Tom took part in the Perlman “Genesis” program. In summer 2015 Tom was invited to perform at the season closing concert of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Nizhny Novgorod in Russia.
In Spring 2016 Tom played with the Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra. In 2016 Tom attended the “Puigcerda Music Festival” in Spain, and won the 1st place in the competition.
In 2018, Tom passed the auditions for the Perlman Music Program that took place in the Tel Aviv Conservatory. Tom received masterclasses from maestro Perlman and several other teachers from the faculty of the Juilliard School of Music. During the program he gave solo performances, and played in a string quartet as well.
In July of 2018, Tom travelled to Vienna with the string orchestra of Hassadna conservatory to participate in in the youth orchestras’ festival “Summa Cum Laude”. Conducted by Prof. Michael Gaisler, the orchestra has won the 1st place in the festival competition and performed in the most important halls in the city, such as the “Musikverein” and the “Konzerthaus”.
Tom serves as concertmaster in the symphonic orchestra of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance High School.
