Gilad Ephrat is an acclaimed Israeli virtuoso double bassist and composer based in the New York area. Over a career spanning more than two decades, his distinctive musical voice has woven together classical, jazz, and global folk traditions, reflecting a deep commitment to innovative creative work. His international performance career includes prestigious stages such as London’s Royal Albert Hall, with featured appearances at major festivals across Europe, Asia, and South America.
As a composer, Gilad is a two-time finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and his discography includes multiple acclaimed studio albums of original works. His contributions to the arts have been recognized by the Israel Ministry of Culture and Sport, as well as through his roles as musical director for the national ACUM and EMI Awards.
Currently establishing his artistic presence in the United States, Gilad brings a fresh, New York-based perspective to his signature projects, such as “Songs of the Valley” (a collaboration with Oren Neiman) and the multidisciplinary “Gilad Ephrat Plays Van Gogh.” He is deeply integrated into the local scene, performing as a resident musician at Westchester Reform Temple (WRT) and collaborating with prominent artists such as Bob Meyer, Lisa Gutkin, and a newly formed bass trio with jazz musicians Jeff Carney and Harvie S. His work continues to build cultural bridges, merging Israeli influences with the energy of the New York creative community.
