Julian Mintz

Julian's first experiences with music making came at the age of seven, when he began studying violin and then the flute at the Hassadna Conservatory of Jerusalem. As a flute player, he took part in numerous youth orchestras and became inspired by the role of the conductor.

In 2018, Julian began his three-year service in the IDF with the status of Outstanding Musician, as a flute player.
In 2019, he began his B.A. degree in orchestra conducting at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance in the class of Prof. Eitan Globerson. Under the aegis of Prof. Globerson, he was immersed in the arts of symphonic and opera conducting, the various skills that they require and the unique challenges that they pose.

Since November 2022, Julian took part as assistant conductor in several opera productions at the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv. Throughout these productions, he conducted in the rehearsal room many times, worked with the singers on the fidelity to the score — both musically and textually; H conducted the off-stage choir in dress rehearsals, assisted conductors in their work with the orchestra and helped fix orchestral parts when needed. As assistant conductor, he had the rare chance to work with great conductors and learn directly from them their approach to each opera, its challenges and intricacies.
