Avner Geiger

Avner Geiger (b. 1982) is an internationally acclaimed flutist born in Israel and living in Berlin Avner is a passionate orchestra and chamber music player who cooperates on a regular basis with orchestras such as Kammerakademie Potsdam and Munich Chamber Orchestra.

Avner studied flute at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover (Diplom), the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (BA) and Conservetoir Aulney Sous-Bois (Paris, Excellence Diplom) where he graduated with the Premier-Prix (first prize). Among his teachers are Prof. Andrea Lieberknecht, Patrick Gallois, Gudrun Hinze (Gewandhaus orchestra), Prof. Marten Root (Traverso), Prof. Christoph Huntgeburth, Prof. Avner Biron and Noam Buchman.
Avner has played at the Israeli Camerata Jerusalem as second and temporarily as first flutist. He has also played with leading orchestras and ensembles around the world- among them the orchestra of the Maggio musicale fiorentino (Opera di Firenze), Jenaer Philharmoniker, Berlin Symfoniker, Staatstheater Cottbus, Theater Magdeburg, Göttinger Symphoniker, Israel Symphony Orchestra, Israel Chamber Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony Radio Orchestra, Tel-Aviv Soloists ensemble, Else Ensemble, Israeli contemporary players (21st Century ensemble), Ensemble Gropius, as well as his co-founded ensemble Fragment and many others.
Avner took part in many international festivals in Europe and USA. He has performed worldwide in flute recitals and as a Soloist with the Israel Camerata Jerusalem, the Czech Philharmonic, Tel-Aviv Soloists Ensemble, the Revolution Orchestra, the School Orchestra in Hannover and others. His performances and recordings have been broadcasted on Israeli Radio, Dutch Radio and German Radio.
Avner has received scholarships from the America- Israel cultural foundation, LMN- Yehudi Menuhin Foundation, Edelhoff- Ricklingen foundation and Musik Braucht Freunde foundation.
Avner participated in Masterclasses of some of the leading flutists today, among them:
Emmanuel Pahud, Benoit Fromanger, Aurèle Nicolet, William Bennet, Peter Lukas-Graf, Michel Debost and Felix Renggli.
