Avraham Tirfe

Avraham Terifa lives in Jerusalem, Israel. He began his music studies at the age of eight at the Jerusalem Conservatory Hassadna in the framework of Hassadna’s special music program for children from the Ethiopian community. Avraham began studying in the class of Marina Tetro and continued studying with Sivan Selikov. For the past five years, he has been learning in the class of Professor Michael Gaisler.
Avraham has performed in numerous concerts as soloist as well as in ensembles. He has traveled to perform in concerts in Toronto, Canada with the Conservatory’s String Quartet, in London with the Conservatory’s Chamber Orchestra, and in London and Brussels in where he performed as soloist and in ensembles. Avraham has also performed in many festive events at the Israeli President’s House, the Knesset (Israel’s government house), the Jerusalem Music Center, the Israel Museum, and many more.
In 2015, Avraham performed as soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra Rishon L’Tzion. Avraham is a graduate of the Jerusalem Music Center’s David-Goldman Program for Outstanding Young Musicians. Avraham is a graduate of the Israeli Young Philharmonic Orchestra, and in his final two years was the Concertmeister of the orchestra.
In 2016 Avraham participated in the Grumiaux International Competition for Young Violinists where he won first prize. He also participated in the Puigcerda Music Festival in Spain where he also won first prize in a solo competition. He participated in many masterclasses in Israel, including with Miriam Fried and the Perlman Music program in Israel and the US. Avraham was chosen to perform as soloist for the Israel Educational Television program Intermezzo hosted by Arie Vardi, and for Channel Two Television’s 2015 Independent Day Celebration.
Since February 2017, Avraham is serving in the IDF in the Outstanding Musicians unit. Avraham is currently studying at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem, and he is a part of the excellence program of the Academy.
Avraham has been a recipient of the America-Israel Foundation Scholarship during the years 2013-2018.
