About Ofri Pinto

Pianist and Composer Ofri Pinto is a strong figure within the Jazz and World Music scene. Born and raised in Jerusalem, the city that constitutes a vast melting pot of musical heritages. Studying the depths of Jazz opened doors for him in all musical scenes of the city varying from North-African to Arabic and Turkish music, Balkan music and many more. This musical knowledge and abilities are in constant use in Ofri’s creative process and is sought after by his contemporaries. While still in Israel, Ofri has had the privilege to play with prominent musicians of the Jazz scene such as Daniel Zamir, Gilad Ronen and Shachar Elnatan. Ofri has performed in Israel’s most celebrated events and shared the stage with internationally renowned Israeli bands.

Since moving to NY to study at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music under a scholarship, Ofri is leading and participating in different musical projects, collaborating with artists from around the world. The project AGONA – a group dedicated to expand the music of the Balkans and relate it with other honorable musical traditions, is led by Agona Shporta and Ofri Pinto, where Ofri plays a key role of composing, arranging and performing. Their project has played around NYC on many occasions, such as The Garden State International Heritage Festival, Artery Events and other venues around the city.
