Simona Arones

Vocalist and composer Simona Arones is one of the most prominent on today’s jazz scene.
With a rich musical background, Simona combines various influences on the original and personal approach of her singing and writing. She has a distinguished sound and often uses her voice as a musical instrument.
Simona graduated from the Thelma Yellin High School for Music and later from the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem. During the period she lived in Europe, Simona completed her studies in vocal jazz at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Holland.
During that time she has performed and recorded with some of the leading musicians in Europe.
Upon her return to Israel, she recorded with legendary drummer Billy Hart.
Simona has appeared and performed with various projects in festivals and performances in Israel including the Tel Aviv Festival, Jazz Festival in Jaffa and Jerusalem, performances at the Heichal Ha-Tarbut in Rishon LeZion during the Spring Music Festival, Tel Aviv Press House, and a series of jazz performances at the Givatayim Theater, Shablul jazz club (Tel Aviv) and more.
Simona has produced and recorded her original album in New York featuring renowned keyboard player Harry Whitaker. The album consists mainly of original compositions by Simona Arones.
Lately, Simona has been performing in collaboration with pianist and arranger Alec Katz. Besides concerts featuring her original music, Simona performs with these projects:
– Brazilian Jazz Affair – original Brazilian Jazz compositions and arrangements of jazz standards with a combination of samba and bossa nova rhythms.
– Unchain My Heart – A Tribute to Ray Charles,
– My Funny Valentine, The Sound Of Chet Baker – the music of the legendary musician Chat Baker.
Simona Arones’ performances receive warm responses from the audience each time anew.
Besides her singing and writing music, Simona Arones is also been a dedicated educator – a vocal coach, jazz piano, and improvisation instructor who has been teaching for more than a decade.
