Yael Shavitt

Yael Shavitt is an Israeli born actress, creator, video editor and producer, based in New York City.
Yael is the creator/writer, lead actress and editor of the award-winning series SPLIT on Amazon Prime Video. She’s been nominated for Best Lead Actress at Blow-Up Chicago Arthouse Film Festival, Open World Toronto Film Festival and Southern States Indie Film Fest for her work on the series. SPLIT is about two possible paths that one life might take. An early decision in a young girl’s life creates a split in her world, sending her off on two parallel paths into alternate futures.
As an actress, Yael performed at venues such as the Public Theater with Obie Award winners 600 Highwaymen in “The Record,” and New Ohio Theatre in the musical/opera “Outside of Eden”. She understudied (& performed) the title role in “Yentl” with Beautiful Soup Theater. She played a lead role in the dark comedy feature “Delenda” (Sarasota Film Festival).
As a Founding Member of the theater collective Asylos Yael has co-created and performed in Asylos’ “Envy on Fire” (Exponential Festival), “Woolgatherers” (Frigid Festival), the site-specific immersive piece “Out of the Ash” and others.
Following her service in the IDF’s Intelligence Corps, Yael co-created the documentary feature film “If You Pull North” (Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival).
She is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (NYC) and the Thelma Yellin School of the Arts (Israel), with additional training from AMAW.
