Yoav Levy is an Israeli composer. Yoav studied composition in the Jerusalem academy of music, where his main teachers were Tzvi Avni (undergraduate) and Amnon Wolman (Graduate). He completed his M.Mus in 2015.
During his studies Yoav participated in master classes with composers such as Chaya Czernowin, Franck Bedrossian, Walter Zimmerman, Ken Ueno, Ivan Fedele, and Michael Levinas. Today yoav studies privately with composers Amnon Wolman and Klaus Lang.
His compositions were performed in many places, among them: The “Modern Academy Festival” in Hong Kong, in Manilla, Philippines, by the “Ripieno Ensemble”, in Hamburg by the orchestra “Philharmonie der Nationen”, in Spain (Santiago de Compostela), and on the Israeli radio by Ensemble Meitar.
Yoav took part in the “Tedarim” project with the “Meitar” ensemble during the years 2014-2016, which included commissioning 6 new compositions from yoav, all funded by the Adele and John Gray Endowment Fund, Dan Yakir and Project Alex, and premiered by the ensemble. Yoav is a recipient of a scholarship from “America- Israel Cultural Foundation” for the 2014-2017 years in the field of music composition.
